On 8th April 2019 conference “Energy Poverty and Air Quality” was held in Ljubljana, organized by InventAir project partner Focus Association for Sustainable Development (FOCUS). It gathered  around 30 experts and relevant national stakeholders on both topics. They have highlighted the links between the two problems. The problem of energy poverty has a significant effect on poor air quality, mainly due to outdated and inefficient heating systems and cookers, but also because of irregular burning of wood (and illegal burning of waste) in households. Such pollution, as well as exposure to cold, humidity and mould in apartments, have negative impact on human health. Participants agreed that measures that address energy poverty must primarily concern improving the quality of living in households, and should as the same time address over-pollution of the air.
